We pray for wisdom, and if we’re honest, we’d love for God to just download it so we could wake up tomorrow and simply be wise. But most of us never decide to reject wisdom. We drift from it, one unguarded moment, careless word, and unplanned step at a time. In Proverbs 4:20-27, a father teaches his son that wisdom isn’t downloaded, it’s kept.

If we want to be wise, we must keep wisdom, not just get it: take it in through the right voices, guard the heart it settles in, and steer our mouth, eyes, and feet by it.
